shooting in Surrey last week that left a gang member critically injured may be linked to the slaying of Jonathan Bacon in Kelowna

shooting in Surrey last week that left a gang member critically injured may be linked to the slaying of Jonathan Bacon in Kelowna last month, police say.

Sgt. Bill Whalen with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit — Gang Task Force said police are looking for a connection between Bacon’s assassination and the Friday 16 shooting of Jujhar Singh Khun-Khun, 24.

“We are investigating links between the two incidents,” he said.

Khun-Khun remains in hospital in critical condition and is a known as a member of the Dhak gang group, which Whalen said are in locked in a battle with the Hells Angels.

Police received a call of a shooting at 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 10100-block of 144 Street. They arrived to find Khun-Khun shot. He was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

On Aug. 14, four people were shot outside the Delta Grand Hotel in Kelowna. Red Scorpion Jonathan Bacon was killed and others were injured, including Larry Amero of the White Rock Hells Angels.

A Gang Task Force media release on Sept. 7 indicated police had information that something retaliatory was going to happen.

“To date, intelligence and information indicates that tensions amongst rival gangs have increased exponentially since the Kelowna shooting and it’s no longer a question of if retaliation will occur, but when,” the task force said. “The potential for a violent reprisal is not restricted to any one community, and can occur anywhere at anytime.”

The release revealed the Gang Task Force had assigned 65 officers to the tensions arising from the Kelowna shooting.
Khun-Khun is no stranger to the media. In 2007 his 19-year-old fiancée was killed when she fell from the moving SUV he was driving. No charges were laid in that case. Later that year Khun-Khun was sentenced to three years in prison for kidnapping and robbing a truck driver. males from the Lower Mainland,

On August 20 2011, Nanaimo RCMP stopped a gray 2008 Acura near the intersection of Victoria Rd and Highway 19A. Khun-Khun and two other men were remanded into custody and charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance under the CDSA were laid after officers detected marijuana odors in the car. A search revealed 27.5 grams of crack cocaine, 7.5 grams of marihuana, 108 pills of suspected ecstasy, a radio jamming system, scales and $1,700 in Canadian currency in the car.

Another known gangster, Sukh Dhak was also at the scene when Khun-Khun was shot
Dhak, 27, is the brother of gangster Gurmit Singh Dhak, who was gunned down in October 2010 outside Metrotown Mall in Coquitlam. In the ensuing round of retaliation 10 people were wounded in a shooting spree at the Neighbors Restaurant on Oak Street in December 2010. A party attended by gang affiliates was taking place inside the restaurant at the time. Sukh Dhak had been warned several times by police that he was a target.

Hawi trial nears end

THE four-month trial of former bikie leader Mahmoud "Mick" Hawi, who is charged with murdering a man at Sydney Airport in 2009, entered its closing phase on Wednesday. Mr Justice Robert Allan Hulme began summing up the case to the jury in Sydney West Trial Courts, Parramatta. Hawi, 31, of Bexley, once one of the heads of this area's Comanchero Motorcycle Club, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Anthony Zervas, whose brother was a Hells Angels member. Justice Hulme was expected to continue his summation of the case until Friday, after which the jury will retire to consider its verdict. Five other Comanchero members or associates are also standing trial co-accused of the same murder. During the trial, medical experts gave evidence that bollards, a pair of scissors and a knife found in a drain might have played a part in the death of Mr Zervas. The court heard the injuries he suffered included internal bleeding, stab wounds and a fractured skull and that his head might have been stomped on or hit by a bollard. Justice Hulme said most of the available closed-circuit video footage of the attack was "average" and "quite poor". The jury should not draw any inference from the fact that a particular camera was not working during crucial moments, he said. Justice Hulme said part of the Crown case was that the Comancheros intended to inflict grievous bodily harm on Mr Zervas, who was one of five Hells Angels or associates at the airport. The jury had to decide if there was a joint criminal enterprise. The trial continues. Hire-car driver was drunk A CRONULLA father-of-six who pleaded guilty to a mid-range drink-driving offence allegedly told police who pulled him over for a random breath-test he knew he had had too much to drink. Graeme John Purcell, 58, of Cronulla, was stopped by police in August after attending Cronulla Bowling Club with his wife. His solicitor said the couple had four children still at home and his client relied on the success of a Cronulla car hire business to get "the whole family out of a financial quagmire".

Police step up watch on Hells Angels

Police in Massachusetts are closely watching a local chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club as one of its high-ranking members sits in jail accused of triple murder. Adam Lee Hall, who court records list as the third in command of the Berkshire Hells Angels, has been charged with three counts of murder in connection with the Aug. 28 deaths of David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell. Hall, 34, of Peru, Mass.; David Chalue, 44, of North Adams and Springfield, Mass.; and Caius Veiovis, 31, of Pittsfield, Mass., formerly of Augusta, each face three counts each of murder, kidnapping and witness intimidation in connection with the triple slaying. Police haven't linked the homicides to the biker club. But over the weekend they stepped up surveillance of its clubhouse in Lee, Mass., using a "high visibility patrol operation" Saturday that coincided with the Berkshire Hells Angels' annual Lobster Fest. Police from the central Massachusetts towns of Lee, Great Barrington, Pittsfield, Lenox and Dalton assisted Massachusetts State Police as motorcyclists from across the region descended on the biker club's headquarters Saturday near October Mountain State Forest in Lee. Also on the scene were the state's environmental police and a county special response team. Police took pictures of everyone entering and exiting Woodland Road leading to the Angels' clubhouse. Many of the bikers seen in the area wore patches identifying themselves as members of the Hells Angels and other regional motorcycle clubs. Massachusetts State Police Lt. David Buell, commander of the troop's Lee barracks, said police have monitored the club's Lobster Fest event the past five years. He cited an increase in the number of police patrols this year in light of the recent homicides but declined to say how many officers were in the area. Buell reported no arrests or incidents Saturday. Several neighbors walked up to police in the area, he said, and thanked them for being there. The Berkshire Hells Angels Facebook page indicated that tickets to the Lobster Fest were $30. It warned visitors to expect heavy police presence. Meanwhile, the Berkshire District Attorney's office disclosed that the bodies of Glasser, Frampton and Chadwell were found buried on private property in Becket, Mass. Authorities declined to be more specific; they previously had refused to discuss any information about where the bodies of the three men were dumped. Glasser, Frampton and Chadwell went missing sometime between Aug. 27 and 28 from Glasser's apartment on Linden Street in Pittsfield. Police say the men killed Glasser to keep him from testifying against Hall during an upcoming trial in Berkshire Superior Court. Police said neither Chalue nor Veiovis -- formerly known in Maine as Roy Gutfinski Jr. -- are members of the Hells Angels. Court records filed last week said the men's bodies had been dumped together in a deep trench that had been covered with large boulders and dirt, with digging equipment found nearby. According to the report, Hall had inquired about the availability and location of excavation equipment in the weeks prior to the homicides. Gutfinski had been convicted in 2000 of elevated aggravated assault in Kennebec County Suprior Court, and served 71/2 years of the 10-year sentence. He changed his name to Caius Domitius Veiovis in 2008. Veiovis, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, faces the possibility of three life sentences without parole.

Gang squad probe car fire-bombing at bikie lawyer's Port Kennedy home

POLICE say they are yet to establish a firm motive after the overnight firebombing of a car at a Port Kennedy property owned by prominent bikie lawyer Malcolm Ayoub. Police and firefighters were called to the house in San Sebastian Boulevard at 12.25am this morning after reports molotov cocktails had been thrown at the house, damaging a car. The house is co-owned by Mr Ayoub, a criminal lawyer who acts for several Rock Machine bikies, including sergeant-at-arms Brent Reker, 26, and Stefan Pahia Schmidt, 25, who is accused of murder after allegedly throwing a man out from an upstairs window of the Ocean Beach Hotel in May. PerthNow understands the vehicle sustained minor damage. On Friday, Reker and another man were convicted extorting $2000 from two young men they claimed were boasting about having links with the Rock Machine. Reker, 26, and tattooist Kyle Adam Barry, 28, were found guilty in Perth District Court of two counts of demanding property with oral threats. It is not clear if this morning's firebomb attack relates to Friday's court verdict or the ongoing tit-for-tat war between the Rock Machine and the Rebels bikie gangs. Assistant Commissioner Nick Anticich this afternoon told PerthNow police were yet to establish a motive for the attack, but officers were focussing on recent court cases involving the victim. ``At this stage, we have nothing concrete as to who has done this or why it has happened,'' Mr Anticich said. Gang Crime detectives were assisting in the investigation, which is being led by Rockingham detectives, he said. ``If strong gang links emerge, then the Gang Crime Squad will take a more active role in the investigation.'' Police have repeatedly warned that the Rebels and Rock Machine gangs are at loggerheads since the Rock Machine set up its national headquarters in WA about two years ago and a Rebels member who was removed from the club later joined the Rock Machine. While police say the feud relates to a turf war over drug distribution networks, those close to the Rebels say the issue is not drug-related but merely a ``clash of personalities'' between members. The Rebels, which has about 50 members and four clubhouses in WA, is Australia's biggest bikie gang. The Rock Machine, a Canadian-based gang, has about 20 known members and a clubhouse in Myaree. The Rock Machine, a Canadian-based gang, is notorious for a violent turf war with the Hells Angels in Canada in the 1990s, which left 162 people dead, including an 11-year-old boy who was killed by shrapnel from a car bomb explosion.

$1M bail for NY man over Mass. triple slaying

A Canaan, N.Y., man is being held on $1 million bail for allegedly helping a ranking Hells Angeles member and others dispose of three murder victims in Berkshire County. A plea of not guilty was entered on behalf of 62-year-old David Casey in Central Berkshire District Court on Monday. He is charged with accessory after the facts of murder, kidnapping and intimidation of a witness. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney. Authorities say 34-year -old Adam Lee Hall, 44-year-old David Chalue and 31-year-old Caius Veiovis were involved in the disappearance and killing of David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell. They were discovered Sept. 10. Glasser was expected to testify this month in the robbery, assault and kidnapping trial of Hall, the reputed sergeant at arms of the Berkshire County chapter of the Hells Angels.

Missing Pittsfiled men were found buried in Beckett

New details are emerging in the case of three Western Massachusetts men whose deaths are allegedly linked to a Hells Angels member. Police say the bodies of the three Pittsfield men had been buried by boulders in Beckett. David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell were found last week, nearly two weeks after they disappeared. Ranking local Hells Angels member Adam Lee Hall and two friends, David Chalue and Caius Veiovis, have pleaded not guilty to charges. Authorities say they killed the men because Glasser was set to testify against Hall.

Dhak Gang Member Targeted in Surrey Shooting

ujhar Singh Khun-Khun is fighting for his life after being shot several times Friday night. And his shooting could be linked to the dispute between his gang and a group of Hells Angels who have been doing a lot of finger-pointing since the Aug. 14 Kelowna attack that killed Jonathan Bacon and wounded Hells Angel Larry Amero and Independent Soldier James Riach. Khun-Khun, at 24, has a long history with police already. And he is a close associate of Sukh Dhak, brother of the late Gurmit Dhak. When Gurmit was gunned down outside Metrotown Mall last October, it was the beginning of a series of tit-for-tat shootings. Sukh Dhak was close by Khun-Khun when he was shot. Dhak has now been picked up on a breach and is in custody. Police are concerned about the escalating tension. On one side is Dhak, the Duhre brothers and their associates and some United Nations gang members. On the other are some Hells Angels, the remaining Red Scorpions, the IS and other associated individuals. It is a constantly-shifting mess that is disturbing to police. And they are working hard to prevent more violence and to make arrests in the Bacon death and now the Khun-Khun shooting.

Hells Angels guilty of murder attempts

Copenhagen's city court has found 15 Hells Angels guilty of six murder attempts on members of other biker gangs. The court said that members of the Angels and their support group, AK81, were behind a series of shootings in 2009 in Copenhagen. No-one was killed, but one victim had his leg amputated in a series of escalating criminal feuds.

'Bikie links' to torched industrial unit

Police have revealed a property damaged in a suspicious fire in Sydney's west on Sunday night is linked to a motorcycle gang. Emergency services were called to the industrial unit at Mount Druitt about 11:00pm AEST. Police say the blaze caused extensive damage to the ground floor and second-storey office areas. Chief Inspector Bill Pearce says the gangs squad has been called in. "We believe that the premises are owned or leased or rented by persons who are associated with a motorcycle group and as a result of that we're following certain lines of inquiry in relation to the fire which we believe is certainly suspicious," he said.

The largest ever trial involving Danish motrocycle gangs has resulted in 15 out of 16 charged individuals being convicted of attempted murder and assault.

The largest ever trial involving Danish motrocycle gangs has resulted in 15 out of 16 charged individuals being convicted of attempted murder and assault. One man was released on Monday without charge.

The trial of four full members of the Hells Angels – including leader Brian Sandberg – and 12 henchmen has taken six months and was based mostly around the testimony of the 25-year-old informant MFP.

The 15 individuals were charged with having carried out four shootings, planning a further two as well carrying out assaults using weapons. Their victims were mostly young  men with immigrant backgrounds.

One of the shooting targets was ‘Little A’ (Lille A) who is a leading member of the rival Blågårds Square Group (Blågårds Plads Gruppen) in Nørrebro.

The city court recognised that MFP’s testimony was supported by technical evidence, witness statements, telephone recordings and video surveillance which the judge stated was necessary in order to convict the accused.

MFP told to the court before the summer holiday who had participated in the various shootings and assaults, who gave the orders and why they happened.

He has already been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by the High Court for his part in five shootings though his sentence has been reduced due to his cooperation with the police.

But throughout the trial the defence has attempted to question his credibility and have accused him of lying about important events.

The Hells Angels have called the case a “well-planned miscarriage of justice”.

The arrest of many of the bikers most notorious members involved in the gang conflict, has meant the Hells Angles have been effectively shut down. Hells Angels spokesperson Jørn “Jønke” Nielsen has moved to Jutland and many of the remaining leaders are being held in custody.

It is now thought that the Hells Angels group in Ishøj have taken over much of the power base from the Copenhagen region and that they are starting to recover.

The arrest of Brian Sandberg in autumn last year has led to a calming of tensions between the immigrant gangs and the bikers. Conflict has since broken out within the immigrant gangs and also between the Hells Angels and rival biker gang, Bandido’s, in Esbjerg.

Sandberg was found not guilty of attempted murder at an incident at a Vesterbro kiosk as the court found MFP’s testimony about the event to not be reliable.

His testimony was still used by the court to convict other bikers of the attempted murder however.

Sandberg was convicted of manslaughter in a shooting at the Surf’n Play-café on Rantzausgade in Nørrebro. He alleges, however, that his car was shot at earlier in the evening.

The 15 men will be sentenced next week.

Victims' burial site is in Becket

The bodies of David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell were found buried on private property in Becket, according to the District Attorney’s office. Authorities declined to be more specific and released no other new information about the case. Until this week, law enforcement officials had refused to even release the location of what they described as a "burial site," where the bodies of the three men were dumped and covered with boulders and dirt. Meanwhile, state and local police conducted what they described as a "high visibility patrol operation" Saturday in Lee, coinciding with the Berkshire Chapter of the Hells Angels’ annual party, Lobster Fest. Adam Lee Hall, who court records list as the third in command of the Berkshire Hells Angels, has been charged with three counts of murder in connection to the men’s disappearance. Otherwise, police haven’t linked the murders to the local motorcycle club, which has put up its clubhouse to cover Hall’s bail in an earlier case, according to court records. Police from Lee, Great Barrington, Pittsfield, Lenox and Dalton assisted State Police, who watched as motorcyclists from across the region descended on the Berkshire biker’s headquarters on Woodland Road in Lee, just past the entrance to October Mountain State Forest. Also on the scene were the state’s Environmental Police and the county’s Special Response Team. Police Advertisement took pictures of everyone entering and exiting Woodland Road leading to the Angels’ clubhouse. Many of the bikers seen in the area wore patches identifying themselves as members of the Hells Angels and other regional motorcycle clubs. State Police Lt. David Buell, the station commander at the troop’s Lee Barracks, said the club’s Lobster Fest is an annual event. He said police have conducted high-visibility patrols coinciding with the party for the past five years. He said police increased the number of patrols this year in light of the recent murders, but he declined to say how many officers were in the area. Buell said there were no arrests or incidents on Saturday, although he said several neighbors walked up to police in the area and thanked them for being there. Members of the Hells Angels were not immediately reachable for comment on Saturday. The group’s Facebook page indicated that tickets to the event were $30. It warned visitors to expect heavy police presence. Glasser, Frampton and Chadwell went missing sometime between Aug. 27 and 28 from Glasser’s apartment on Linden Street in Pittsfield. Hall, 34, of Peru, David Chalue, 44, of North Adams and Springfield, and Caius Veiovis, 31, of Pittsfield, have been charged with three counts each of murder, kidnapping and witness intimidation. Police said neither Chalue nor Veiovis are members of the Hells Angels. Police say the men killed Glasser to keep him from testifying against Hall during an upcoming trial in Berkshire Superior Court. Court records filed last week said men’s bodies had been dumped together in a deep trench that had been covered with large boulders and dirt, with digging equipment found nearby. According to the report, Hall had inquired about the availability and location of excavation equipment in the weeks prior to the murder.

Motorcycle gangs extending reach in Alberta

Seven years ago, Shannon Trottier was left with a gaping hole in her life when she watched her 34-year-old son die in her arms. Joey Campbell, also known as Joey Morin, was rushed to hospital after he was sprayed with bullets outside a west-end strip club, but his injuries were too severe to overcome. A second man, Robert Simpson, died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were affiliated with outlaw motorcycle gangs — at that time the Bandidos — and the killer has yet to be brought to justice. The shooting marks the last time any significant violence among bikers erupted onto city streets and police are holding their breath it will stay that way given the province’s changing biker club scene. According to Sgt. Marc Labonte of the Edmonton Integrated Intelligence Unit for the RCMP, during the last two years Alberta has seen one of the largest increases in outlaw motorcycle gangs across the country. Labonte wouldn’t name the specific clubs that have set up shop in the province, but said there are now four main clubs referred to as “one-percenters” — a term given to outlaw motorcycle clubs that aren’t always just out for a good time — as opposed to one main group with four chapters. Two new one-percenters showed up in the last year, and each one has one to three chapters. In addition, police have identified at least eight “puppet” clubs or associate clubs, which consists of members aspiring to become part of the main clubs, so they conduct certain business to prove themselves worthy. In early 2009, Labonte said there were maybe two or three associate clubs in the province. The bikers are also spreading their wings. Two or three years ago, Labonte said the one-percenters were limited to Edmonton and Calgary, but they have since spread to cities throughout the province, and it’s largely attributed to the booming economy. “The economy was good, so there was money. Where there’s money, there is always a criminality,” said Labonte. Police are closely keeping tabs on the most recent outlaw motorcycle clubs to arrive in the province. But Labonte isn’t expecting an all-out turf war to erupt any time soon — like the one going on between the Hells Angels and Rock Machine in Winnipeg, which experienced a series of firebombings and shootings, including one that put a 14-year-old boy in hospital with gunshot wounds. In the past, some of the biker gangs in Alberta have been responsible for homicides, home invasions, drugs, prostitution, money laundering and extortion. Labonte said there has been an increase in criminality among the clubs in recent years — the most notable were home invasions where “somebody didn’t pay up.” But often crimes such as this go undetected, making it difficult for law enforcement to get involved. “The victim, who’s a criminal usually, will not report it to police because they know what these guys can do,” said Labonte, who noted biker gangs try to keep violence from spilling onto the street. “They don’t want to make a big scene. They will be very low profile because they don’t want the public against them. They are like a business. They don’t want to be known as bad guys.” Although police aren’t concerned there will be an all-out turf war in Alberta, Mounties are cognizant things could change since many of the clubs are connected regionally and nationally. In 2004, Criminal Intelligence Service Canada listed the Hell's Angels as the largest and most powerful outlaw motorcycle gang in Canada, with approximately 500 members belonging to 34 chapters across the country, in which at least three were in Alberta. The following year, the director of the Criminal Intelligence Service of Alberta told the Sun the Hells Angels wouldn’t allow any competitors to set up shop in Alberta. But police believe the momentum has changed since then. Labonte noted there are about five or six one-percenters in the U.S. Alberta now has four of them — and they seem to be talking and negotiating with each other. Police have heard of instances where one group has stolen another group’s patch, which sends a message you are not allowed to be here. So far the bikers seem to be using the gesture as a way to start talking to one another and lay grounds for respect, said Labonte. Whether those talks are peaceful remains to be seen. “It’s always troublesome. It happened in Edmonton and a small rural community, so now we have to be careful because that could escalate,” said Labonte. “Some of them are into criminality. It doesn’t mean they are all into criminality.”

Police seize explosives from bikie gang house

Police from the Organised Crime Squad have seized one kilogram of explosives in a raid on a Balga house linked to the Comancheros bikie gang. The raid was in response to an incident earlier this week, in which several shots were fired into a heavily fortified house and a car in Darch, in Perth's north. A member of the Comancheros was in the house at the time of the shooting. Superintendent Charlie Carver says police have also raided the gang's Northbridge clubhouse. "At the Comancheros house, a stick of Powergel explosive has been located, that's approximately one kilogram in weight and could cause extreme damage or even loss of life if it was primed and detonated," he said. "It's not a usual find but it comes on the back of the 57 sticks of Powergel we took out of the Rock Machine Headquarters at the beginning of this year. "This state has a big mining industry and I'd suggest that it wouldn't be too hard to get hold of that particular explosive."

Premier Charest refuses to call inquiry despite leaked report

The demands for a full-scale public inquiry into allegations of corruption in the construction industry have only grown since the task force investigating crime leaked its report to media outlets this week. Engineers, union members, members of the public and politicians of all stripes -- except for the provincial Liberals -- are saying it is past time for an inquiry to be launched. However Premier Jean Charest, accompanied by Public Security Minister Robert Dutil and Transportation Minister Pierre Moreau, said an inquiry will not happen under his watch. In fact Charest took credit for the report that was leaked this week, even though he has not read it in full, saying it only happened because of the police investigation into corruption that he launched. "We are taking steps to get results. We have created a competent and independent group and given them the means to gather evidence and charge criminals," said Charest. The premier then reiterated something he has said many times since the creation of the anti-corruption unit: "We have to let the investigators do their work." The premier also said that anyone who thinks corruption is a made-in-Quebec problem is ignoring the rest of the world. "This impression that we're the only ones that have this kind of issue is wrong," said Charest, adding that New York, among other places, also faces continual fights against corruption. Opposition leader Pauline Marois once again demanded that Premier Jean Charest take the matter out of the hands of police and let a public inquiry begin. "There are too many problems that are presented in this report and they don't have the choice," said Marois. Politicians with the city of Montreal agree. "Absolutely the mayor of Montreal would support this public inquiry," said Michael Applebaum, member of the city's Executive Committee. For years the premier has refused to call an inquiry, with many critics saying any inquiry would likely destroy the provincial Liberals, much as the Gomery Commission into Adscam tore up the federal Liberal party. Investigative journalist Willam Marsden says Quebecers are outraged by the government's refusal to act. "The taxpayer here in Quebec is paying upwards of 33 percent more or higher for a square footage of road that they do anywhere else in Canada," said Marsden. "They see their money going into projects that are just knee deep in corruption and what do they get out of it, they get an infrastructure that is literally falling on their heads." Analysts and pundits are not surprised that Charest is refusing to call an inquiry. Gazette Columnist Don Macpherson said he did find it odd that Charest has yet to read the full version of the leaked report. "That was the only surprising thing he said today really," said Macpherson. As for an inquiry, Macpherson thinks that if Charest calls one at all, it will only come a short time before dropping the writ for an election. "He's seen what his own Bastarache inquiry did to his own party," said Macpherson. "Once you hold a public inquiry you lose control of the public agenda." Macpherson added that Charest is probably hoping the anger about corruption in Quebec will fade from public memory, pointing out that Charest's public satisfaction numbers went up over the summer.

man wounded as many as five times in a shooting late Sunday outside a downtown tavern remains hospitalized in Boston

local man wounded as many as five times in a shooting late Sunday outside a downtown tavern remains hospitalized in Boston while detectives continue to search for the gunman.
Police identified the victim as Jesse Michaud, 29, of Goffstown Road, who was shot in the shoulder, thigh and arm in the 11:30 p.m. shooting outside TJs Sports Bar, 21 Central St.
Capt. Gerald Lessard said none of Michaud's vital organs was hit and his injuries are not considered life-threatening although he remains hospitalized at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Lessard said investigators have developed some leads and he expects "we will put this together soon." A lot of people were present when the shooting happened, he said, and interviews are still being done.
He acknowledged the tavern is frequented by people associated with motorcycle gangs, but said "from what I gather" the shooting is not gang-related. Some people were arguing and one of them pulled out a gun and shot Michaud up to five times, police said.
When officers arrived, they found him slumped against the building and immediately called for an ambulance.

Bail hearings begin for alleged Hells: "bail hearing for nine men arrested in last year's province-wide roundup of Hells Angels and their associates.

On April 15, 2009, officers from several police forces arrested most of the 156 people named in an indictment that lists several serious charges including conspiracy, gangsterism and 22 counts of first-degree murder. The murders were carried out within the context of a bloody conflict over drug trafficking turf between the Hells Angels and rival criminal organizations that stretched from 1994 to 2002, a period commonly referred to as the biker war."

Bikie Gangs | Mother of Hells Angel hopes Comancheros rot in hell

Bikie Gangs Mother of Hells Angel hopes Comancheros rot in hell: "arrest of two Comanchero bikie members in relation to the shooting of Peter Zervas outside the family's Lakemba apartment block has done little to ease Frederika Bromwich's pain.
The mother of four lost her son Anthony Zervas when he was bashed to death at Sydney Airport during a brawl between two bikie gangs in March last year. Seven days later his older brother, Peter, was shot eight times as he drove into the car park beneath his mother's apartment block.
Only days after 10 members of the Comanchero were committed to stand trial for the murder of Anthony, police yesterday made the first arrests in relation to his brother's shooting."

Quebec police arrest 10 in biker case as contract killer turns informant

Quebec police arrest 10 in biker case as contract killer turns informant: "In fact, the fit man with his carefully groomed beard was a cold-blooded contract killer, one of the worst Quebec has ever seen. Working primarily for enemies of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, Gallant was responsible for 28 killings and 13 attempted murders between 1978 and 2003, police say.
After investigators finally caught up with him in 2006, he decided to talk, and on Thursday the Sûreté du Québec announced the arrests of 10 people allegedly connected to Gallant’s killings. They were still seeking an 11th suspect, Gallant’s friend and former cycling partner Jacqueline Benoît, who is wanted on two charges of murder and one of attempted murder. Among those arrested are prominent organized-crime figures Raymond Desfossés and Fréderic Faucher, each of whom faces six murder charges."

13 bikies for trial over airport brawl

13 bikies for trial over airport brawl: "Thirteen men will go on trial over a fatal brawl between warring bikie gangs at Sydney Airport 18 months ago that sparked a statewide police crackdown.
An ongoing conflict between the Hells Angels and Comanchero gangs spilled into the public arena with the killing of 29-year-old Anthony Zervas on March 22, 2009.
An autopsy found that Mr Zervas, linked to the Hells Angels, suffered blunt-force head trauma and three stab wounds."Ten Comanchero bikies will stand trial for murder over a 'violent encounter' with rival gang the Hells Angels at Sydney airport, a magistrate has ruled.

Anthony Zervas, 29, was killed during the brawl on March 22, 2009, after a chance meeting of gang members on a domestic flight.

Ten Comanchero were charged with his murder and three Hells Angels were charged with riot and affray.

After eight weeks of submissions at a committal hearing, magistrate John Favretto has found that a properly instructed jury could convict the men on a murder charge,.

'The evidence is capable of satisfying a properly instructed jury...that each of the accused persons have committed an indictable offence,' he said.

The 10 accused are Comanchero boss Mahmoud 'Mick' Hawi, Farres Abounader, Maher Aouli, Tiago Costa, Ismail Eken, Zoran Kiscanin, Frank La Rosa, Christian Menzies, Pomare Pirini and Usama Potrus.

Lawyers for some of the men submitted during the committal hearing that the Comanchero were acting in self-defence.

'It is a matter for a jury whether the actions of Hawi and others were done in the course of self-defence,' Mr Favretto said.

He said the evidence alleged Menzies and Hawi used a bollard to bash Mr Zervas, while Abounader had allegedly stabbed him with a knife.

Mr Zervas died from blunt-force trauma to the head and three stab wounds caused by a knife and scissors.

Some of the accused shook their heads as the decision was made, with one heard to mention 'corruption'.

None of the men applied for bail and the matters have been adjourned to the NSW Supreme Court on November 4.

A decision on the committal of the three Hells Angels charged over the same incident will be given by Mr Favretto later on Thursday.

DPS GIITEM finds evidence Hells Angels is restarting a local chapter - The Prescott Daily Courier - Prescott, Arizona

DPS GIITEM finds evidence Hells Angels is restarting a local chapter - The Prescott Daily Courier - Prescott, Arizona: "Arizona Department of Public Safety Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission (GIITEM) found evidence that leads it to believe the Hells Angels gang was restarting the Skull Valley chapter, according to documents released Thursday by the Yavapai County Attorney's Office.

The evidence includes patches found on one member's vest, a ledger, bank bags found in a suspect's car, and entries in two suspects' notebooks, according to the DPS GIITEM report.

While looking at cuts, the leather or denim vests worn to show affiliation with a certain gang, the detective's team helping the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office investigate the shooting between the Hells Angels and Vagos gangs last month found a patch that read 'YAVAPAI CO' on cuts worn by Michael Koepke.

Koepke was the first Hells Angels gang member that a DPS GIITEM detective recognized as he walked through the crime scene. The detective wrote in his report that Koepke smiled at him and then looked away as the detective walked by.

On the left side of the cuts when they're worn at the top are patches, also called flashes, indicating Michael Koepke holds the position of sergeant at arms for the Nomad chapter of the Hells Angels gang, and below the flashes is a 'YAVAPAI CO' patch, also called a side rocker."

Iron Horsemen Gun battle at JD's Honky Tonk Bar

Gun battle at JD's Honky Tonk Bar on Spring Grove Avenue Saturday night killed one person, injured another, and also injured two undercover Cincinnati Police officers. The battle all started between police and a motorcycle club called The Iron Horsemen. Police estimate 30 shots were fired during the battle.
Streicher told FOX19 that further investigation revealed the man who died was a member of the Iron Horsemen who had fired shots at police. It was originally believed that the victim was an innocent bystander.
An attorney for the Iron Horsemen, Mike Schulkens, says the victim, whose name is Harold, was guarding the door because there had been some tension building between the Iron Horsemen and another motorcycle club called the Detroit Highwaymen. The Highwaymen were reportedly trying to start a club in Cincinnati.
When Harold saw two men approaching in masks, he assumed they were members of the Detroit Highwaymen who were there to kill members of the Iron Horsemen, so he opened fire.
Streicher said he doesn't know if the officers were wearing masks or if they had any clothing or accessories identifying them as police. Masks are sometimes worn by undercover officers to hide their identity.
Police will only say that the officers were there 'conducting an investigation.' No other information is available on why the officers were there.
The Iron Horsemen also have a hangout in Covington, and Schulkens says he has met with both Covington Police and with Chief Streicher, telling them that the Iron Horsemen do not have anything against the police.
Streicher said the names of the officers will not be released because of their undercover status."

Witness to police and biker shooting caught in the crossfire - FOX19.com and FOX19 News, weather, traffic, and sports for Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky |

Witness to police and biker shooting caught in the crossfire -: "'He yelled 'it was a gang fight!' He didn't yell 'the police are here!', he didn't yell 'the police and bikers are fighting!' he yelled it was a gang fight,' according to Shearer's attorney.
Wilhoit says Shearer threw his two sons under a table for cover, and when the gunfire stopped, Shearer and his sons were taken into custody and questioned before being released.
Wilhoit says Cincinnati Police provoked violence with innocent bystanders around Saturday night and he wants to know why.
When FOX19 contacted Fraternal Order of Police, President Kathy Harrell told us she was unhappy with the way the media was reporting the story and hung up the phone.
Minutes later she talked to 700WLW Bill Cunningham, telling him officers went in 14 deep, and despite masks, were obviously police officers.
'They knew we were the police there's never a question about the fact they knew we were police...there's no outrage over the fact that there was a meeting of an outlaw motorcycle gang that ambushed Cincinnati Police,' Harrell said on the show.
Harrell also told Cunningham any wrong doing that's alleged will be investigated by the police department."

Normand Marvin (Casper) Ouimet, a member of the gang's Trois Rivieres chapter who is wanted in a case where he is alleged to have taken control of masonry companies to launder money.

16 people named in Operation SharQc are still being sought, according to the Surete du Quebec's website. They include Normand Marvin (Casper) Ouimet, a member of the Hells Angels Trois Rivieres chapter who iswanted in a case where he is alleged to have taken control of masonry companies to launder money.
Included among the nine men who began their bail hearing are Normand (Billy) Labelle, 55, Michel (Sky) Langlois, 64, Yves (Flag) Gagne, 59, Bertrand Joyal, 53, and Marc-Andre Hotte, 38. All five are alleged to be full-patch members of the gang.
Superior Court Justice James Brunton placed a publication ban on all evidence that will be presented over the next two weeks.
Despite the very serious charges involved, being granted a release in Operation SharQc is not an impossible task. Earlier this year, the Quebec Court of Appeal supported a decision Brunton made in August 2009 where he granted the release of six men. At least 16 people to date have been released while they await a possible trial."

Iron Horseman Motorcycle Club member Harry Seavey Jr. was killed during the fight after police said he fired at officers when they entered JD's Honky Tonk

"Iron Horseman Motorcycle Club member Harry Seavey Jr. was killed during the fight after police said he fired at officers when they entered JD's Honky Tonk.
Investigators said Seavey was an enforcer for the motorcycle club and that he was called in from Maine.
On Tuesday, the leader of Cincinnati's Fraternal Order of Police is taking aim at Police Chief Tom Streicher for comments he made about the shootout.
FOP President Kathy Harrell said that despite the Iron Horsemen's growing numbers in the Tri-State, Streicher is being too nice to the motorcycle club.
'For anyone to think that the Iron Horsemen are not involved in criminal activity, it's ludicrous,' Harrell said.
Harrell made the statements after Streicher was interviewed by radio station 700 WLW's Bill Cunningham.
Cunningham had asked Streicher if Seavey might have thought he was under attack.
Streicher responded, 'There's no reason to disbelieve that, and it's certainly one of the possible explanations that are there.'
Harrell said that 14 officers met before going into JD's Honky Tonk and that they were clearly marked as police."
